Retired Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas joins the Geopolitics and Security Studies Centre (GSSC) as an Associate Expert.
Jonas Vytautas Žukas is the former Chief of Defence of Lithuania (2014–2019), who served in the national defence system for several decades. He is one of the most renowned Lithuanian officers, with profound knowledge in the fields of national and international security, defence policy, and military cooperation.
After retiring from active service, the General has remained an active participant in GSSC discussions, commenting on regional security issues and contributing to the strengthening of strategic defence thinking in Lithuania. Within GSSC, he will contribute to the development of the defence policy and security research direction.
“We are delighted that General Žukas has joined GSSC’s growing community of experts. Our aim is to bring together people with the deepest knowledge of foreign and security policy and international experience. The General’s practical expertise and insights will undoubtedly contribute to the Centre’s academic and analytical strength,” said GSSC Director Linas Kojala.
In 2026, GSSC will celebrate its twentieth anniversary.
