Dr. Simona Merkinaitė is the Senior Area manager at the Geopolitics and Security Studies Center. She is responsible for development and implementation of focus areas, and expanding international partnerships. She has over ten years of experience managing international projects focused on research, education and civil engagement.
In 2024, she defended her PhD in Political Science at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science, Vilnius University, with a dissertation titled “Hannah Arendt’s Concept of the Political.” She is also a scientific researcher at the Hannah Arendt Center.
Her research interests include modern political thought, regime change, and the relationship between Russia, the United States, and China and its impact on democracies. She has contributed to publications such as LRT.lt, Naujasis Židinys-AIDAI, Bernardinai.lt, New Eastern Europe, Visegrad Insight, and various academic monographs.
