On April 20, GSSC hosted an online discussion on Bulgaria’s snap parliamentary elections, examining the election results, voter turnout trends, the causes of political instability, prospects for forming a new government, potential Russian interference, and the direction of Bulgaria’s foreign and security policy.

The discussion also explored whether the new government will be able to address corruption and rule-of-law issues, whether Bulgaria could become the “new Hungary” within the European Union, and what to expect regarding the country’s defence policy and NATO commitments.

Insights were shared by Romain Le Quiniou, Managing Director of the French think tank Euro Créative. The discussion was moderated by Gytė Augustinaitytė, Project Assistant at the Center.
