On 14 April, a live open lesson for Lithuanian school communities, “We Are NATO: What Does It Mean for Lithuania?”, took place. The lesson was organised by the Ministry of National Defence of the Republic of Lithuania in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport and the Geopolitics and Security Studies Center.
During the lesson, GSSC Director Linas Kojala discussed Lithuania’s security, the significance of NATO membership, and Lithuania’s role within the Alliance. The discussion was moderated by Saulė Kėvalaitė, a cadet at the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania.
The lesson was intended for students in grades 8–12. It covered how collective defence works, what allied forces are deployed in Lithuania, how NATO is adapting to changing threats and challenges, and what role each citizen can play in strengthening the country’s security.
The aim of the initiative was to help students better understand Lithuania’s security environment, strengthen civic awareness, encourage critical thinking, and highlight the importance of cooperation.
