The Geopolitics and Security Studies Center was pleased to host, for the first time, a side event at the London Defence Conference 2026, titled “Baltic Sea Security: Where Hybrid Pressure Tests the Alliance”.
Held at Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), the discussion brought together experts to reflect on how NATO Allies are adapting to persistent hybrid threats in the Baltic Sea region. Moderated by Edward Lucas, the conversation featured valuable insights from Simona Merkinaitė (Senior Area Manager, GSSC), Jack Watling (Senior Research Fellow for Land Warfare at RUSI), and Elisabeth Braw (Senior Fellow, Atlantic Council).
Key takeaways highlighted the importance of moving from abstract commitments to practical implementation – strengthening esponse mechanisms, and building long-term societal resilience.
We thank all speakers and participants for an engaging and forward-looking discussion.
