Today, we mark the 33rd anniversary of Freedom Day.
On 31 August 1993, at 11:46 p.m., the last Russian military units left Lithuanian territory, completing the withdrawal of the occupying army from Lithuania.
To mark the occasion, the Ministry of National Defence today opened the installation “Towards Unconditional Freedom” at Vilnius Railway Station. A series of “Free Conversation” discussions is also taking place there. These events serve as a reminder that freedom is neither a matter for negotiation nor a privilege granted by another state – it is the right to determine the future of one’s own country independently.
