On May 30 Geopolitics and Security Studies Centre in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Lithuania hosted a key discussion on NATO’s future and European defense dynamics.
The event featured prominent experts including Tom-Jan Meeus, journalist at Dutch media outlet NRC, and Vykintas Pugačiauskas, LRT’s foreign news editor. Together, they analyzed the Netherlands’ political shifts, NATO summit expectations, evolving US leadership role, and Germany’s strategic position in Europe’s security architecture.
The conversation covered challenges such as differing threat perceptions among NATO members, defense spending debates, credible deterrence without US troops in Europe, and the ongoing impact of the Ukraine conflict.
